How can you not love a pissed-off duck with a speech impediment? The tragedy of Donald Duck's existence, doomed to always be a loser, is what makes him a symbol for people. We even have a political party (don't know if it's active anymore) named after him - Kalle Anka partiet. Has never had anyone running it, I think, but still gets a few thousand votes every year.
Mickey Mouse on the other hand, now there's a fucker to hate.
