At first blush this episode didn't seem to forward the "mythos" very much, but it was enjoyable, kind of like a Season 1 episode. Any Hurley-centric episode is bound to be enjoyable. But a few things stand out--primarily, that the characters ARE FINALLY SHARING INFORMATION! I hadn't remembered who knew what Rousseau's daughter's name was, but I guess Kate did, and thank God the writers finally made someone use the old noggin.

Plus--Cheech? Shambala? Saywer watching 'Little House?' Gold! The name Tricia Tanaka is apparently a nod to the Family Guy, who has an Asian reporter named Tricia Tanakara.

The flashback was kind of a waste as far as moving anything forward or backward. We knew Hurley was cursed before. They had that whole episode after he won the money. DJ Qualls may have added more to this flashback...or was he dead too??

What was the name of the candybar given to yound Hugo? Did the map show the road to otherville? Why did Cheech look older in the flashback flashback? And did Rousseau have a different accent again?

But it was very enjoyable. A much more lighthearted episode and I think Sawyer doubled his nickname handout total in this episode alone.

I'm excited for next week's Sayid episode. Just knowing that a new episode is coming every week is awesome. Next year when they go all 24 on us it will be perfect...

nevermind...qualls was not dead. He was mentioned as the Johnny stealing Starla away from hurley.

My favorite line had to be during Hurley's rousing speech to Charlie that culminated with "Let's look death in the face and say...'whatever man!'" CLASSIC HUGO REYES right there.

This was kind of a stand-alone episode, like the X-Files used to have, that don't further the larger plot, and that's okay by me. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped some clues in there that we don't recognize yet, though.

Enjoyable change-of-pace episode. It's nice to occasionally get away from the weekly adventures of Juliette, Ben, Tom, Alex, Karl, Isabel, Pickett, Ms. Kluh (and their faithful doctor, Jack) to focus on the background players.

Hopefully we'll see more of morbidly-obese guy and his junkie, British friend in the future.

Next week is back to business with answers to the questions we've all been pondering:
- When will Ben's stitches come out?
- Is Juliette's back healing properly?
- If Aloe does not soothe Juliette's burns, what alternative treatments can be utilized?

Not much to add, except, yeah, it seemed like a Season 1 episode (I thought that while watching it tonight and before reading Jackrabbit's comment!), and the flashback seemed like a waste, like we learned less from that one than even Jack's tattoo flashback.
